The Staff of Guidance & Comfort
Complementing the rod, the staff in Psalm 23:4 features a distinctive crook at the end. It was never used to strike, but to gently pull straying sheep back, lift lambs out of rocky crevices, and guide the flock along narrow mountain ledges.
Fathers must wield the staff of gentle guidance, patience, and tender affection, lifting their children out of the pits of discouragement with unmatched compassion.
